How Much has Changed?

Gone with the Wind Box ArtOn one of the top links on this blog, you can find fun facts about me. These facts mainly offer my favorite things. As I was sitting here I couldn’t help but think of how easy some of those things change. I don’t know if it’s just me or if everyone is like this, but the phases in my life often dictate what I consider to be a favorite thing. Sure, those things were favorites when I started this website, but are they still my favorite things now?

Let’s take a look and see if anything has changed and if so, I’ll be sure to list what would be a more appropriate answer for today.

Favorite Food: Steak (rare) or Stromboli

Today: That’s about right. No matter what my mood is, I still love steak and when it comes to Stromboli, well I could be suicidal and that would bring me off the windowsill. It has to be from Paliani’s though. I will miss them when we move.

Favorite Meal Type: Mexican

Today: Though it seems funny that my favorite foods are not in this category, when it comes to a type of food that I will almost always eat, it would have to be Mexican. I do love my enchiladas, burritos, Meximelts, nachos…well, you get the point.

Happiest Memory: The day that I decided to be with Dominick forever
Today: I recently got a job making a considerable amount of money. That ranked pretty high recently, but I still think Dominick and the thought of growing old with him ranks a little higher. Well…at least when I like him!

Favorite Movies: Where the Day Takes You, Dangerous Beauty, Shining Through, The Diary of Anne Frank, Gone With the Wind, and Sweet Nothing

Today: It really is hard to beat these movies. I would love it if WB would put Sweet Nothing out on DVD. My collection would be a lot closer to complete if they did. These are pretty much the movies I will never tire of watching, though I do have many other favorites.

Favorite TV Show(s): Big Love, Meadowlands, Weeds, Food TV (Ina Garten, Emeril, Paula Deen, Giada, Dinner Impossible, Iron Chef, and Rachael Ray), and I loved both the Sopranos and Queer as Folk

Today: Meadowlands is not on anymore and I have become obsessed with both The Tudors and Dexter. There is just something about a sexy serial killer that kills for the greater good that makes me melt. I’m pretty much obsessed with most of Showtime’s shows and with good reason! I was a big fan of HBO’s Rome, but when they replaced Augustus with another actor I quite watching.

On network television, my two big obsessions are Criminal Minds and Jericho. Lost is also quite impressive these days. As for Food TV, I watch less Giada these days and I rarely catch Dinner Impossible, but the rest of my TV picks are more or less the same.

Favorite Cartoons: The Smurfs, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Garfield
Today:It’s hard to argue with these choices.

Favorite Disney Movies: Finding Nemo, Cars, and The Fox & The Hound

Today: While I really love The Little Mermaid, and thought that Peter Pan II was absolutely adorable, not much has changed here.

Favorite Comedians: Whoopi, Ellen, Dane Cook’s Kool Aid Man and Carlos Mencia

Today: When Whoopi decided to go on The View a part of me cringed, because she’s so much better than that over-stuffed panel of annoying women. However, when it comes to acting and comedy she still ranks high. Ellen lost most of my respect when she crossed the picket line during the current writer’s strike. As for the men, who doesn’t still love Kool Aid Man and Carlos?

Favorite Actors: Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, & Michael Douglas. I also like Brad Pitt and George Clooney

Today: This group features some of the best actors in Hollywood so it would be hard to change the list. Other favorites include Bruce Willis, Michael C. Hall, Ashton Kutcher, and Matt Damon.

Favorite Actresses: Meryl Streep, Bette Davis, and Charlize Theron

Today: I haven’t seen Charlize in anything lately though I am sure she’s out there still making movies. I also really like Angelina Jolie, I don’t know how she didn’t make this list originally. Natalie Dormer from The Tudors is also becoming a quick favorite. Meryl and Bette will forever remain on this list.

Favorite Singer: Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars

Today: I would have to classify Leto’s voice more as a fetish than a favorite.

Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist: Eminem
Today: I miss Eminem coming out with new stuff though his older music is still my favorite in the Rap/Hip Hop genre.

Favorite Bands: The Doors

Today: It’s hard to beat Jim Morrison. The Doors have been a favorite for as long as I can remember.

Favorite Song Currently: “Never Again” by Kelly Clarkson

I still listen to this song quite a bit. Other favorites include “The Kill”, “Fantasy”, and “Beautiful Lie” by 30 Seconds to Mars and “10 Dollar” by MIA.

Favorite Book: The Diary of Anne Frank

Today: This book still has a profound affect on me no matter how many times I read it.

Favorite Poet: Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Today: Unless you consider the Sonnets or Poe than yes, this is the same.

Favorite Candy: Whatchamacalits
Today: When I was a kid these were always my favorite. I still love them though I am anxiously awaiting chocolates from a luxury chocolate company I will be reviewing. I will let you know how they are once I receive them.

Favorite Beverage: Mello Yello - Anyone who can find me this is my hero!

Today: I miss Mello Yello. I wish that they would bring it back here to Michigan and that Coke would make a Mello Yello Zero. Ah, that would be heaven.

Favorite Musical: Rent

Today: I have a few others that I like, but Rent is my favorite.

Favorite Playwright: Shakespeare
Today: Despite the rumors that Shakespeare did not even write the work, I have to remain true to the literary genius of the person that wrote these amazing plays whether her name was Shakespeare or not.

Favorite Composer: Berlioz
Today: There are numerous composers that I like. Berlioz tends to be my favorite for that dark, foreboding tone that exists in many of his popular works.

Favorite Ice Cream: Haagen Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter

Today: This one has definitely changed. I am now addicted to Graeter’s ice cream. The favorites (that I have tried) includes Peppermint, Butter Pecan, and Black Raspberry Chip.

Favorite Quote: ”Sex’ is as important as eating or drinking and we ought to allow the one appetite to be satisfied with as little restraint or false modesty as the other.” - The Marquis de Sade

Today: It’s hard to argue with such brilliance.

Worst Memory: It’s something I don’t like to think about.

Today: It is somewhat funny reading this because I have no idea what that memory would be anymore. It’s nice being so comfortable that the bad things all just sort of go away.

Something that No one would know about you: I really do have a heart.
Today: I would say there is something else I could add here. When I am done with something, it’s over. Once I decide I’m done with something then it’s just finished and I am done with whatever it is and am on to something new.

Favorite day of the week: Any Day I don’t have to work (not write work but work work)

Today: That’s still a pretty good answer. I like early mornings or late nights when everyone else is asleep and I can write and think peacefully.

Hobbies: Reading, Music, Playing Outdoors with my Son, Watching Movies

Today: I spend a lot of time reviewing products these days so that means a lot of movies, music, computer programs, etc. As for playing outdoors, it’s winter so I am hibernating. I will like the outdoors again come spring and summer.

Biggest interest in the creative arts: Writing. It’s what I do.
Today:While I have a huge interest in film lately, I still love writing more than anything.

What would you like to be doing in 10 years?: In ten years, I want to be a best selling author, writing full time, living with Dominick and our children in one of many huge homes we own.

Today: That sounds about right. Either that or living in Europe and spending my days lounging at coffee shops and writing.

Religion: the Hellenic religion of the Ancient Greeks
Today: I am more spiritual than religious, but yes, I do believe in the Hellenic faith and the Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Greece.

Hottest Celebrities: Stephen Dorff and Carmen Electra
Today: This has definitely changed. For females I have to say I am pretty loyal to Kate Beckinsale these days. For men that can be a tough one, it depends on the day.

What actors would you like to work with if your books become movies?: Stephen Dorff, Ewan McGregor, Vin Diesel, Scott Speedman, Ice Cube, and Gale Harold.

Today: Those are all still pretty true. Others include Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Brad Pitt, Jared Leto, George Clooney, and Matt Damon.

What actress’ would you like to work with if your books become movies?: Meryl Streep, Carmen Electra, Kate Beckinsale, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Today: I am not as interested in Carmen as I used to, though I would still like to work with her. Other options include Natalie Dormer, Lena Olin, Kathy Bates, and Ginnifer Goodwin.

The other items on the list were all the same so there was little reason to mention them. Apparently, as much as things often change, some of them do manage to stay the same.

What are your favorite things? Leave me a comment and let me know.
