Eric McLean has been labeled as a good guy by his lawyers. He was a devoted husband. He was the type of guy that would play “mommy” to the kids so that his wife could finish school and get her career going before him. He was tolerant enough to see his 29 year old wife flaunt her relationship with an 18 year old boy around their town. He saw them kissing and if reports are true, he saw them having sex. After all this, he apparently did not hold enough ill will to want revenge. Instead, he never did anything irrational. He just bought a shotgun that he had planned to use for his suicide.

All bets were off though when Eric came home to his wife Erin in the home with Sean Powell, her lover. McLean told the boy to leave and when he wouldn’t go, McLean called 911. That night, March 10, 2007, changed things forever. That was the night that Eric McLean became a murderer. His wife was going to leave and take their sons with her and Powell. They laughed at him. They taunted him. And when Erin got out of Powell’s car to get something, the defendants claim that Powell shared some words that probably sealed his fate.

“In two weeks, they will be calling me `Daddy.’ “

McLean got the shotgun that was supposed to be for his suicide and a shot was fired that blew part of Powell’s face off. Still the question remains, is that really the way it happened? The defense calls it an accident, but McLean had to get his gun, so I don’t know that it was as cut and dry as they want to claim. Passion is a funny motive, but it is one used a lot, especially when you’re wife doesn’t have the forethought to see how hot the fire is that she’s playing with.

I used to attend Criminal Justice school online. I always made quite the impression when the topics of criminal rehabilitation and the death penalty came up. I am of the firm belief that some people cannot be saved. If these people, whoever they are, cannot be saved then I feel it’s only fair that we do the taxpayers a favor and save them a buck. That’s right I think we need to off the guys that cannot be saved.

Currently criminals are receiving the message that no matter what they do there will be someone out there to defend them and try and save them, usually so they can go out and do it all over again. Just look at people like Casey Anderson. It seems to be more than obvious that she killed her kid, yet there are people out there that will defend her, saying things like the chloroform details are false and the decomposing body in the car was really a diaper that sat there all day. Didn’t you know? When a diaper sits there long enough it begins to sprout matter that appears to look like decomposition. If people did their homework they would know that.

Instead, I think we should have an adequate system for those that we are fully aware cannot be saved. We could fully castrate (yes, penis, too) pedophiles. Of course, I realize that this would not stop them from trying to harm little children. So, with that in mind, if we allowed them to live someone would need to cut their arms and legs off, too. Serial murderers could be set on fire and put on pay per view to help squelch the national debt. You know, things like that.

Apparently the US is not the only place where people go crazy for the latest gadgets. A few days ago, a 14 year old boy from India confessed to killing his friend’s sister because he had to have her iPod. The boy, Arka Das loved gadgets so much that he had been caught stealing the cell phones of his neighbors numerous times, though they always let him go because he was so young. Perhaps they should have opted for turning him in and maybe he wouldn’t have ended up killing anyone.

Arka’s original plan was not to kill anyone. Originally, he went to the gadget repair shop where his friend, Sagar had taken her iPod to be repaired. When he was unable to attain the iPod using a forged note, the boy opted for plan B. He called his friend’s house and made plans to meet up with the boys little sister, Siuli. He told the girl that he would take pictures of her on the iPod, so she brought it and they traveled to a spot by the Mayurakshi dam.
